Seven Scriptures to Pray for Your Descendants

I'm part of a grandmothers prayer group. We meet once a month to pray for our grandchildren and their world. Each month we pray one Scripture for all of the grandchildren. The following is a list of seven Bible verses we've prayed.

  • "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." Psalm 119: 105.
  • "Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart." Psalm 119: 2.
  • "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3: 5-6.
  • "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10: 9.
  • "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." 1 Timothy 4: 12.
  • "Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." Deuteronomy 6: 5.
  • "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer." Psalm 19: 14.

Easter Prayer

Our Father God in Heaven,

You are holy! We thank you for loving us so much that you sent your Son, Jesus, as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. We rejoice Jesus is risen and reigns forever!

Help our friends and family members comprehend your great love. May each one confess "Jesus is Lord", and believe in their hearts that you, Father God, raised Jesus from the dead. May they all call upon your name and be saved, and live the abundant life you have promised. Give each the desire and strength to walk in love, truth, and righteousness. In the name of our risen Savior...amen.

Resurrection Rolls

"Jesus is not here; He has risen, just as He said..."
Matthew 28: 6

At Easter season, the grandkids and I make resurrection rolls. It's a fun way to remind us  the tomb is empty, and Jesus is alive. You need one can crescent roll dough, one bag  of large marshmallows, melted butter, and a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.

The marshmallow represents Christ's body.
Dip the marshmallow in the melted butter.

Roll the marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
These represent the oils and spices used to anoint Christ's body.

Take a marshmallow snack break!

Take one triangle section of crescent roll dough.
This represents the tomb.
Wrap the dough around marshmallow, sealing the seams well.

Bake according to crescent roll package directions.

After baking, the resurrection rolls should look like this...

...and not this. If rolls aren't sealed well, you've got a sticky mess!
And then you have to explain  Jesus really did not melt...

After cooling, break open the tomb. Christ is risen!
Eat the rolls (they taste like cinnamon rolls), and celebrate God's amazing love!

What are some of your Easter traditions?

First Friday Intercession: Businesses

My motivation to pray for businesses comes from learning Chick-fil-A was the number one U.S. chicken chain in 2013. Chick-fil-A, located  mostly in the south, has less than half the stores as its competitor KFC.

As a customer of Chick-fil-A, I know they have a great product, excellent customer service, and a good system for moving cars through the drive-through line quickly.  Because of the owner's faith,  Chick-fil-A is  closed on Sundays.

My North Dakota cousins, Cassie and Abbey, visited us during their Spring Break. Chick-fil-A was on their list of places to eat. Even "Flat Liz" enjoyed the experience! (More about "Flat Liz's adventures in the Lone Star State" to follow!)

Please join me as we pray God's blessings for our nation's businesses. You are welcome to leave your prayer in the comments section.

Father God in heaven, You are our Maker. The earth and everything in it are Yours.

Thank you, Lord, for giving skill, ability, and knowledge in all kinds of crafts and trades. Your Word says You give people the ability to produce wealth, and for this, we thank You. Thank You for Your provision. You are good, and meet all our needs!

Please bless business owners and workers with wisdom, creativity, ingenuity, humility, generosity, and the fear of the LORD. May all business be conducted with honesty and integrity. Let all be good managers of the resources You provide. Allow businesses that adhere to good principles to thrive and grow. May Your people show Your light and love in the workplace. In the Name of Jesus, our Bread of Life...amen
.

Here, I state my observations, and offer no speculation as to Chick-fil-A's success.
